We were back at York for day one of the Ebor festival on Wednesday and there was only one name on everyone’s lips. The superstar miler, Baaeed.
The Juddmonte International winner made it a perfect ten wins from as many starts and put the doubters in their place as he stepped up in trip and went beyond a mile for the first time.
The William Haggas-trained four-year-old was every bit as impressive as many had hoped he would be, and there could be no more worthy winner of the World Pool Moment Of The Day accolade as he put himself amongst the greats of the game.
Collecting the £1,000 prize and Champagne on behalf of Ricky Hall – Baaeed’s groom – was trainer William Haggas, who had to say, “It’s fantastic, I’m very grateful to World Pool for this and Ricky will be even more grateful, so I’d like to thank them on his behalf.”
He continued, “The World Pool is making a huge difference to us [the racing industry], and the liquidity now is fantastic. It may be the way forward!”
William Haggas, trainer of Baaeed is on hand to pick up the World Pool Moment of the Day awards from Nick Luck.
