World Pool Moment Of The Day

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day, Ascot

Pyledriver stole the show on King George Saturday at Ascot.

William Muir & Chris Grassick’s five-year-old galloper was sent off at odds of 20.80 but looked more like an even-money favourite when powering clear by over two lengths to Arc winner Torquator Tasso.

Having globetrotted around four different countries since December, credit had to go to the horse’s groom, Babu Singh, who was delighted to claim the £1,000 prize and bottle of champagne.

Singh, said: “He’s a lovely horse. I’ve looked after him for five years and travelled the world with him.

“Last year, he was very unlucky as he had to miss the King George, so to come back and win it this year makes me very happy. I’d like to thank World Pool for this fantastic prize too.” Pyledriver was making his 18th career start, of which he has only finished out of the first three on six occasions, and his eighth try in G1 company.

This World Pool Moment of the Day will now go into the World Pool Moment of the Year draw, alongside the 16 other moments, for a chance to win £34,000.

PYLEDRIVER's groom, Babu Singh, picks up the World Pool Moment of the Day prize on King George Day 2022 at Ascot.
