Nunthorpe Stakes Day

Day Three of the York Ebor meeting saw a big shock in the feature race of the day as LIVE IN THE DREAM made all from the front to win the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes.

Trained by the Epsom-based Adam West and ridden to an emphatic success by young jockey Sean Kirrane, the four-year-old broke well from the gates and set some blisteringly quick sectionals to beat reigning champion Highfield Princess.

Since his first run of his season at Lingfield in March, Live In The Dream had been in fantastic form thanks to two victories and three promising runs in defeat, so despite the surprising result based on the betting market, he deserved his big day in the sun.

Bradsell, a World Pool Moment Of The Day winner at Royal Ascot this year, also ran a good race to finish third behind the experienced sprinter.

When collecting her £4,000 World Pool Moment of the Day-winning cheque, Live In The Dream’s groom, Shoshana Cooksley-Towner, said: “For him to win a Group 1 and for me then to win something like this; you couldn’t write it!

“I never dreamed of holding this cheque or even being here on this day, but here we are, the team won, and I’m lucky enough to get this. It hasn’t quite hit me yet, but I’m sure it will!”

Cooksley-Towner can now dream of winning a trip to Hong Kong next year if Live In The Dream is chosen as the World Pool Moment of the Year.
