Your 2022 World Pool Moment of the Year winner is Alpinista! The fine grey mare came out on top in a four-way vote ahead of British Champions Day, beating off competition from Dark Shift, Baaeed and Highfield Princess, to win her yard £34,000.
Her performance in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks back in August was voted as the top World Pool Moment of the Day, of which there were 16 in total, while the mare also went on to capture Europe’s premier middle-distance prize in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Alpinista’s groom, Annabel Willis, was on hand to receive the cheque at Ascot from Michael Fitzsimons, Executive Director, Wagering Products, The Hong Kong Jockey Club on British Champions Day (15 Oct).

Winning the Yorkshire Oaks, and being named World Pool Moment of the Day then was brilliant, then going on to win the Arc and the Moment of the Year prize is just surreal. It’s been an incredible season.”
