Starting on Saturday 27 January with Met Day at Kenilworth in South Africa, one World Pool Moment of the Day will be selected at each World Pool meeting to win a prize of HK$40,000 (or equivalent).
Each winning groom will also enter the chance to be named World Pool Moment of the Year and win a VIP trip for four to Hong Kong for either the 2025 Hong Kong Derby or 2025 Champions Day.
Each individual World Pool Moment of the Day winners will be narrowed down to a shortlist, before being voted on by the public to determine the World Pool Moment of the Year, which will be revealed at the Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin in December.

World Pool Moment of the Day winners
- One World Pool Moment of the Day winner will be selected at each of the featured World Pool days in 2024
- Each Moment will be awarded based on the horse’s performance (e.g. a wide margin winner or a winner from an unlikely position) and/or a human interest story
Each Moment will reward the winning horse’s groom with
HK$40,000
and entry into the World Pool Moment of the Year competition
World Pool Moment of the Year winner
- All Moment of the Day winners will qualify to win the World Pool Moment of the Year prize – a VIP trip for four to Hong Kong for either the 2025 Hong Kong Derby or 2025 Champions Day
- The 2024 Moment of the Day winners will be whittled down to a final shortlist
- The shortlist will then be voted on by the public, with the horse polling the highest percentage of the vote winning the World Pool Moment of the Year for the stable staff
