Prince of Wales's Stakes Day

Day two at Royal Ascot was a day that John & Thady Gosden will never forget thanks to a brilliant double in two of the Group races.

Gregory was a good winner of the Queen’s Vase to hand jockey Frankie Dettori his first winner of the meeting, but it was the performance of MOSTAHDAF in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes that caught the watching spectators off guard.

The five-year-old son of Frankel, making his first start since finishing fourth to the brilliant Equinox in Meydan, scorched away from the six-strong field to land an emphatic four-length victory under Jim Crowley.

Post-race, his groom, Victor Konya, was all smiles for Mostahadaf, a horse who has since been given a rating of 128 which makes him the highest-rated horse in Europe.

He said: “He absolutely blew my mind today and I am speechless! I always try to prepare some words for if I get interviewed, but today I just couldn’t because I don’t know what to say.

“It’s a pleasure to be around him, he is a gorgeous horse, and I’m just so happy with the performance.”
