World Pool Moment Of The Day

Prince of Wales's Stakes Day, Royal Ascot

With the likes of State Of Rest, Dramatised and Saffron Beach all impressing the World Pool Moment of the Day judges on day two of Royal Ascot, picking a winner was tough.

But when striking grey Dark Shift romped home in the Royal Hunt Cup for the Charlie Hills team, there was one man who had to be given a special congratulations – Reg Todd.

After 60 years of working in racing, including over 30 as a groom at Hills’ yard, Reg had never led up a Royal Ascot winner, but Dark Shift put an emotional end to all of that:

“I’ve been working in racing since 1959, so to finally have a Royal Ascot winner over 60 years later feels good. I feel very proud. I love working with horses, it’s my life.”

Reg and the whole Hills team will now be entered into the draw for the £34,000 World Pool Moment of the Year.
