Friday 3 May 2024 – World Pool will return to the UK this Saturday with nine races on 2000 Guineas Day from Newmarket, while for the first time the 1000 Guineas on Sunday will be run as a World Pool race for the first time.

The 2000 Guineas, the first Classic of the British Flat season, offers the chance to see the highly regarded Aidan O’Brien-trained City Of Troy and punters from 28 countries will have the chance to bet into the world’s largest globally commingled pools, powered and run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

In all nine races on 2000 Guineas Day, World Pool customers will have a choice of seven bet types – Win, Place, Quinella, Quinella Place (Swinger), Forecast (Exacta), Tierce (Trifecta) and Treble (pick the winner in three selected races).

The fillies’ Classic, the 1000 Guineas, is the only World Pool event on Newmarket’s Sunday card and six bet types – Win, Place, Quinella, Quinella Place (Swinger), Forecast (Exacta), Tierce (Trifecta) – will be available on the race.

With World Pool in action for all races on 2000 Guineas Day, a World Pool Moment of the Day will be chosen with the winning groom taking home HK$40,000 and being in with the chance of winning a VIP trip to Hong Kong next year.

Guineas weekend will also see the start of a new World Pool initiative, the World Pool UK & Ireland Jockeys’ Championship, where jockeys will compete to accumulate points across World Pool fixtures in the UK & Ireland.

For the winning jockey of every World Pool race in the UK and Ireland, points will be awarded based on the World Pool win dividend. The concept of this point system offers a level playing field for all jockeys, from leaders to rising stars, and their chances of winning are dictated by the public as reflected by their World Pool odds.

Beginning with the 2000 Guineas, the competition will conclude on British Champions Day at Ascot on 19 October, with the winner receiving HK$500,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice.

Last year’s 2000 Guineas Day saw turnover from World Pool bet types hit HK$268.9 million.
