Cape Town Met Day

On a fabulous Cape Town Met Day where UK-based Zimbabwean-born jockey Daniel Muscutt won his first ever G1 on his debut ride in South Africa, it would take something extra special to be named World Pool Moment of the Day.

Muscutt’s shock victory aboard 33/1 outsider Double Superlative in the G1 Cape Town Met was astonishing, but it was the wild celebrations in the parade ring triggered by DYCE’s victory in the G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship that caught the eye of the Moment of the Day judges.

Groom Everisto Nyambo, who previously worked with 2010 G1 Kong Kong Sprint winner J J The Jet Plane, and colleague Able Makena were seen bursting with pride and passion as the Lucky Houdalakis-trained speedball came home in front, and Nyambo could hardly believe his eyes when seeing the HK$40,000 cheque!

DYCE, Nyambo and Makena also enter the running to be named World Pool Moment of the Year, where a trip to Hong Kong is up for grabs.

The next World Pool Moment of the Day will come from Saudi Cup Day on Saturday 24 February, won last year by Japan’s Panthalassa.

A priceless reaction from our World Pool Moment of the Day winner on Cape Town Met Day, Everisto Nyambo, who looks after DYCE.
