Friday 12th April, 2024 – The global totalisator revolution continues in earnest Down Under this weekend with the Randwick meeting this Saturday, April 13, to mark the first time that an entire 10-race card will be offered from abroad through World Pool, the largest globally commingled horse racing pools created and powered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

An Australian full-card meeting was taken from Flemington last year on Victoria Derby Day in November, but that raceday only consisted of nine races – unlike most Australian feature cards which are now 10-race offerings.

Included among the 10 races are four Group 1 highlights: the ATC The Star Australian Oaks (2400m), the Schweppes Sydney Cup (3200m), the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) and the Grainshaker Vodka Queen Of The Turf (1600m). There are five other stakes races, including three Group 2 contests – two worth $1 million each – while the non-stakes $1 million Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Final (1400m) completes the meeting.

There will be five bet types available – Win, Place, Quinella, Quinella Place (Duet) and Tierce (Trifecta) – offering World Pool punters unrivalled choice and value. Once again, all three Australian tote pools will commingle with global customers through World Pool, offering unprecedented liquidity and price stability.

One World Pool Moment of the Day will be chosen from the 10 race winners at Randwick this Saturday, with AUD$8,000* on offer for the winning groom. They will also gain entry into the World Pool Moment of the Year competition for the chance to win a trip to Hong Kong next year.

Last weekend saw the final eight races on Day 1 of The Championships covered by World Pool, with turnover topping AUD$44 million.

Michael Fitzsimons, Executive Director, Wagering Products of the HKJC, said: “Australian racing has been a welcome addition to the World Pool rotation and we are excited to break new ground again at Randwick this weekend. Saturday looks to be a great card with plenty of exciting and competitive races and we are sure that World Pool will continue to be a popular selection for punters in Australia and abroad.”
